Marina Laurendi Drops Her Highly-Anticipated Visually Stunning Music Video For “Stay Mine”
When you can strip away the larger-than-life elements of a dynamic production, there is something magical about just letting your heart out about a past relationship. On our latest dive in the indie world we are checking out a brand new music video for “Stay Mine”, the latest release from Marina Laurendi. If modern New York speakeasies and film noir met in a side alley and decided to make sweet music, it would sound just like an artist like Marina. Hailing from Western New York, Marina was surrounded by the glitz and glamour of the big city all of her life. Originally a theater performer by trade Marina moved to NYC after college to perform off-Broadway throughout the city and along the East Coast. She even received the chance to perform at a handful of notable venues such as The Bitter End in NYC, Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls, Nietzsche’s and Mr. Goodbar in Buffalo, and The Orleans County Fairgrounds (Tedfest V). Marina has received quite a bit of praise from tastemakers and major playlists due to the great reception around her debut EP Stay Mine, and has now evolved into a full-fledged artist + singer/songwriter combo!
“Stay Mine is really about wanting to create a beautiful life full of wild experiences and the desire to share all of that with someone who matches your fire. I had this sense of restlessness when I was writing it like I was just dying to start filling my life with these crazy adventures that make you feel like you can be forever young and I think that translated into the song. When we’re performing it, I always visualize it like a scrapbook of amazing memories so with the video, Luke Haag, our director/videographer, really helped me hone in on the best way to convey that. The whole thing is snapshots of this relationship where we really see the good, bad, and the ugly. It’s a healthy mix of reality and this pipe dream of what could be.” – Marina Laurendi
With all of the success that Marina has received around her debut Stay Mine EP and the project’s title track, it is only suitable that it would receive a quality video treatment. Created in conjunction with talented director Luke Haag, the “Stay Mine” video puts forward a visual representation of the tumultuous relationship at the center of the track, immediately matching the mood right out of the gate. Filmed in multiple locations around Buffalo, NY, and the Niagara Falls area, the backdrop moves and grows in correlation with the love and tension between the core couple on screen. While Marina is still in the early stages of her career, this video showcases he in a light the screams Lana Del Rey…and we are completely here for it.
