Kandle Shares Haunting, Trip Hop-flavored “Burn” Single/Video, new LP 10/25
While it has been a few years since we last checked in on this artist, we are excited to hear how her sound has developed over time. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out “Burn”, the latest single from Kandle. Growing up in British Columbia with her father Neil Osborne, Kandle was able to experience the music industry from a rather unique perspective. Determined to move against the fray, Kandle made it clear that she has no desire to create disposable ear candy. She has no plans to chase playlist placements, as she simply just wants to tell her story. Following in the path laid for her by strong female icons like Nancy Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Shirley Bassey, her true love of music will serve as her guide. Kandle has already snagged the attention of audiences and critics, snagging a “Video of the Year” JUNO nomination as well as a Prism Prize award for her track “Not Up To Me.”. Kandle was also nominated for a 2021 Prism Prize for Set The Fire first single, “Lock and Load,”.
Kandle’s latest single, “Burn,” is a hypnotic, trip-hop influenced track that offers a tantalizing preview of her upcoming fifth album, *Danger To Dream*, out on October 25. With a haunting piano riff, a deep, brooding beat, and her smooth yet frustrated vocals, the song evokes the atmospheric tension of acts like Portishead and Massive Attack. It’s a seductive, cathartic anthem for letting go of old memories and embracing a sense of dark liberation.
The album blends trip-hop, rock, and soul, meditating on the world’s state with a mix of nihilism and sultry charm. Following high-profile collaborations with artists like Jack White and July Talk, *Danger To Dream* reflects Kandle’s artistic evolution, combining rebellious defiance with alluring vulnerability.
