Juno-Winning Artist Elisapie releases ‘Inuktitut (Remixes)’ EP today w/ Hologramme

Elisapie, a Canadian Inuk singer-songwriter from the remote village of Salluit in Nunavik, grounds her music in her homeland and the Inuktitut language. Since winning her first JUNO Award in 2005 with the band Taima, she has built a critically acclaimed body of work that blends tradition with contemporary sounds. Collaborating with top musicians from Montreal’s indie and folk scenes, Elisapie creates music that honors her cultural roots while resonating with a global audience, balancing emotional depth with artistic innovation.

Hologramme, the alias of Montreal-based producer Clément Leduc, crafts atmospheric, dystopian electronic music influenced by house, UK garage, and ambient styles. He has collaborated with artists such as Lunice, Ouri, and Fakear, and extended his creative reach into fashion and film, working with names like Chanel and KAWS. Known for blending live performance and DJ sets with modular synths, Hologramme has amassed over eight million streams and is set to release two EPs in 2025, solidifying his status as a rising figure in the international electronic music scene.

Elisapie brings new life to ten iconic songs by translating and performing them in her mother tongue, Inuktitut, giving each track a raw, intimate quality rooted in the thousand-year-old language. Produced by her longtime collaborator Joe Grass, every song is connected to a loved one or a personal story that shaped her identity, turning the project into both a musical and autobiographical journey. Through this cultural reappropriation, Elisapie honors her heritage while sharing the beauty and resilience of Inuit language and culture with audiences beyond her community.

Released in September 2023, Inuktitut received widespread acclaim, spending four weeks in Canada’s Top 10 album sales chart and earning attention from outlets such as KEXP, Le Monde, Vogue, Rolling Stone, CBC, ELLE Canada, Exclaim!, and The Globe and Mail. The album marked Elisapie’s second Polaris Music Prize shortlist nomination and has been supported by an extensive tour of over 90 shows in Canada as well as performances across Europe, the U.S., Australia, and Japan, further establishing her as a leading voice in contemporary Indigenous music.
