Funny story-turned-collaboration between Local Singles and Sam Blacky on “Hotsteppa.” Out Now on Spinnin’ Deep

We love it when a project comes together over absurd circumstances. On our latest visit to Spinnin’ Deep we are checking out “Hotsteppa”, the latest from Sam Blacky and Local Singles. Producer, model, and influencer, Samantha Black is already a triple threat but primed and ready to take on more. Better known as Sam Blacky, Sam originally hailed from San Diego, Ca but didn’t find her love for music production until moving to Australia for a number of years. Once moving back to Los Angeles, music production and performing live immediately took center stage in her life. Including her modeling schedule, Sam performed all around the world from 2017-2021, with no travel destination escaping her grasp. During the pandemic in 2020, Sam Blacky even created a YouTube series called “A New World” where she live-streamed her favorite sets from locations all around the world!

I went to see Keinemusik for my birthday at the Brooklyn Mirage, who has been one of my favorite artists for years.  I didn’t run into the Local Singles boys, but found out later they were right next to me in the crowd the entire time. We laughed so hard when we saw each other’s stories, and I couldn’t believe we missed each other that night. We have always been friends and supportive of each other, so we decided we had to collaborate soon to memorize that funny moment and show our love of the tribal and Afrohouse sound, and this is how ‘Hotsteppa‘ was born.” – Sam Blacky

Big up di crew ini di area. Getting ‘Hotsteppa‘ out was a labor of love. From finding the right collaborator in Sam Blacky, to finding the right vocalist, and last but not least, finding the right label in Spinnin’ Deep. It’s taken over a year, but we can finally say… here comes the ‘Hotsteppa.’ It’s like when they say the name of the movie in the movie, but with the song title, haha.” – Local Singles

“Hotsteppa” is a collaboration between Sam Blacky and the producer/DJ duo Local Singles, blending tribal Afrohouse influences into a vibrant track. The song features rhythmic and euphoric elements with a mysterious build-up, highlighting Local Singles’ signature sound. Sam Blacky contributes deep bass undertones combined with tribal instrumentals and vocals, reflecting her passion for global sounds and travel. The track evokes an atmosphere of dancing in exotic locales, like the jungle or desert, creating an immersive listening experience.

The track has already garnered attention with early plays by renowned artists such as Diplo and Francis Mercier at Burning Man, as well as Tom & Collins in Tulum. “Hotsteppa” follows the recent releases of Local Singles’ “Fever” on BLOND
‘s label and Sam Blacky’s “Ronaldinho” featuring Niniola, showcasing the artists’ continued innovation in their music.
