Elephant Stone Wrap 2023 With “Another Year Gone” Single + Video ||| “Back Into the Dream” LP Out February 23, 2024

Time is passing by too damn quickly. We just need it to calm down just for a few weeks. On our latest visit to our neighbors up North we are checking out “Another Year Gone”, the latest from Elephant Stone. Based out of Montreal, this modern psy-rock band was created by musician Rishi Dhir as a different creative outlet. After performing with bands such as The Datsons and The High Dials, Dhir discovered his love for the sitar and telling his personal experiences, thus giving birth to Elephant Stone. Dhir quickly made a name for himself as a renowned sitar player, collaborating with the likes of Beck, and legendary cult bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Dream Syndicate, and many more. Elephant Stone has been active since releasing their first album in 2009, and with their new EP on the horizon, fans of psych-rock need to take notice.

“In this repetitive existence, it was easy to become untethered, adrift in thoughts while feeling emotionally and physically suspended. Another Year Gone’ is an anthem for these disorienting times. It’s a narrative of contrasts—between those grappling with stress, fear, and economic hardship, and those who profited from the chaos. Above all, this song is a musical embrace, a reassurance to hold close the ones you love and to tell them that, despite the world’s turmoil, everything will be okay.”

Elephant Stone’s latest release, “Another Year Gone,” serves as a tantalizing preview of their upcoming album, Back Into the Dream, scheduled for release on February 23rd, 2024. Premiered via FLOOD, the track encapsulates the Montreal psych-rockers’ musical prowess, blending psych-rock with power-pop in a concise 1:44 runtime. Frontman Rishi Dhir’s lyrical reflections navigate the temporal disorientation of the COVID lockdowns, adding a poignant layer to the song’s dreamy atmosphere. The accompanying video, directed by Laurine Jousserand, pays homage to the ’60s and ’70s music video era, drawing inspiration from Queen’s classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” clip. Elephant Stone skillfully combines vintage aesthetics, introspective lyrics, and captivating visuals, making “Another Year Gone” a standout addition to their repertoire and setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated album release.
