Denham Audio, piri and Tommy Villiers Release New Drum & Bass Single “Heavy Handed” on HARD Recs

Every artist brings a formidable presence to this collaboration. Denham Audio first gained international attention with his breakout single “Make Me,” which has surpassed 45 million streams and received support from BBC Radio 1, Capital Dance, Rinse FM, and Triple J. His upcoming sets at Club Glow at Hootananny Brixton and The Warehouse Project’s Halloween blowout further cement his status as one of the UK’s most influential electronic tastemakers.

Manchester-based duo piri & tommy have experienced a meteoric rise, with their viral track “Soft Spot” reaching No. 20 on the UK Independent ‘Singles Breakers’ chart and a career total exceeding 225 million streams. Recognized as BBC and MTV “Ones To Watch,” TikTok No. 1 artists, and BBC Radio 1 “Hottest Record in the World” honorees, they have demonstrated an instinct for creating hooks that resonate widely. Individually, Tommy has remixed tracks for Disclosure and LF System and collaborated with legends like MJ Cole and General Levy, while piri has worked with both Salute and rising talent Omar+. Together, they blend UK garage, drum and bass, and indie pop into a versatile, genre-defying sound.

There’s no way to be coy about this, the song is about partners being a little too rough in the bedroom! It’s a real problem I’ve picked up on from my own experiences and countless stories from friends, and it was really nice to vent feeling this onto a track. It’s almost educational! The beat moves from being soft and sweet in the verses to really hard in the chorus to match the theme of the song, which I think is really cool. It reflects the  contrast in the sensation I’m desiring in the song versus the frustrating reality of things. I love how you can literally FEEL the difference. I know this topic is not easy to bring up face-to-face, so maybe people can use this track to drop a subtle hint to their sneaky link!” – piri

Born from the UK’s electronic underground, Denham Audio, piri, and Tommy Villiers join forces on “Heavy Handed,” a drum and bass single releasing August 22 via HARD Recs. The track combines piri’s airy, emotive vocals with jungle-rooted breaks, pulsating basslines, and shimmering atmospherics, while Tommy Villiers contributes warm guitar riffs and crisp instrumentation. Denham Audio anchors the production with precise, dancefloor-ready momentum, creating a high-energy yet tender song that balances euphoric beats with intimate storytelling.

Candidly exploring themes of intimacy, piri explains that the song addresses partners being “a little too rough in the bedroom,” drawing from personal experiences and stories from friends. The track mirrors this contrast, shifting from soft, sweet verses to hard-hitting choruses, allowing listeners to feel the tension between desire and reality. Playful, cheeky, and emotionally resonant, “Heavy Handed” serves as both a dancefloor banger and a subtle, educational anthem for navigating intimacy behind closed doors.
