“It all started when I got my heart broken… and the life I thought I had planned changed without warning. But instead of letting it defeat me, I chose to embrace it.”  – CON THE ARTIST

Fresh off a cross-Canada tour with LØLØ and being named an iHeartRadio Future Star, CON THE ARTIST makes his full-length debut with THIS IS A BREAKUP ALBUM, a deeply personal 15-track exploration of heartbreak, identity and self-discovery. Out now via Wax Records, the album captures the emotional rollercoaster of watching a relationship unravel while trying to make sense of the future left behind. Rather than dwelling exclusively on heartbreak, CON embraces the complicated emotions that come with moving on, finding room for nostalgia, frustration, gratitude and personal growth. Tracks like “Where’s Your Girlfriend” explore the struggle of reclaiming your identity after becoming so closely associated with someone else, while focus track “So Cold” draws inspiration from the sweeping alternative-rock sounds of The Killers and Kings of Leon to capture the painful distance between two people who once imagined a future together.

Throughout the album, CON brings those emotions to life through thoughtful production choices and an adventurous blend of alternative pop and rock influences. On “Dirty Laundry,” he returns to the piano he once played for his former partner, positioning the microphone to recreate how it sounded from her spot on the couch, adding another layer of intimacy to an already vulnerable project. That attention to detail extends to the album’s overall progression, beginning with the distorted guitars, warped synths and strings of “Something Beautiful,” which reflect the uncertainty of a life suddenly turned upside down. By closing track “Rest Of Your Life,” those unsettled textures give way to a clearer combination of acoustics and strings, mirroring CON’s gradual journey toward acceptance. The result is a candid and emotionally charged debut that looks beyond the pain of losing someone, celebrating the memories, lessons and personal growth that remain long after a relationship ends.
