Chantal Kreviazuk Releases ‘In My Own Voice’, A Full-Circle Reimagining of Her Songwriting Legacy

GRAMMY and JUNO Award–winning songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk returns with In My Own Voice via Wax Records, a deeply personal project that reimagines 12 songs she originally co-wrote for major global artists. Stripping away the polished, high-production sound of the originals, she reconstructs these tracks in minimalist, emotionally intimate arrangements that highlight voice, piano, and atmosphere, shifting the focus from commercial hits to the songwriting at their core. The result is less a covers album and more a reclamation of authorship, reframing familiar pop and hip-hop moments through the perspective of the writer behind them.

Originally sparked by viral renewed attention to early releases like “Over My Dead Body” and “Feel This Moment,” the project evolved into a cohesive artistic statement about identity and creative ownership. Across songs associated with artists like Drake, Kelly Clarkson, Kendrick Lamar, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, and Pitbull, Kreviazuk reframes chart-defining music as something more intimate and foundational, revealing the emotional blueprint beneath decades of pop culture.

Being a songwriter and collaborating with some of the biggest and most celebrated artists of our time has been one of the greatest privileges of my life and career. Being able to reimagine these songs in my own voice was validating and liberating at once. I have always believed that a great song is a great song and if we remove production and strip things back to a simple and intimate place, nothing is lost and we can maybe even find some other magical moments from the heart of the original writer. I hope listeners are soothed and comforted by these treasures in my life and repertoire.

Recorded at Fuse Sound in Stockholm with producer Eric Rosse, In My Own Voice leans into a stripped-back, emotionally focused approach that puts Chantal Kreviazuk’s songwriting front and centre. Known for his work with artists like Tori Amos and Sara Bareilles, Rosse helps shape a sound built on restraint rather than scale — piano-led arrangements, subtle orchestration, and vocal performances that feel immediate and unfiltered. The result is a set of reimagined global hits that feel less like polished pop recreations and more like raw, intimate sketches of the songs at their emotional core.

Across a career that includes over 300 million global streams and songwriting credits for artists like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, and Carrie Underwood, Kreviazuk’s influence runs deeply through modern pop music. This project acts as both reflection and reclamation, pulling those songs back to their origin point and re-centering the voice behind them. Fresh off a U.S. tour introducing these reinterpretations live, she’s continuing the rollout with a cross-Canada tour this fall, bringing the album’s stripped-down emotional approach into a more immediate, shared live setting.
