STARRING: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, Daniel Brühl

YEAR: 2016
COUNTRY: United States
With many people fearing the actions of super heroes, the government decides to push for the Anti-Hero Registration Act, a law that limits a heroes actions. This results in a division in The Avengers. Iron Man stands with this Act, claiming that their actions must be kept in check otherwise cities will continue to be destroyed, but Captain America feels that saving the world is daring enough and that they cannot rely on the government to protect the world. This escalates into an all-out war between Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Panther, Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and Spiderman) and Team Captain America (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Sharon Carter, Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant Man) while a new villain emerges.
Let’s face it…we have been waiting for Captain America: Civil War to be coming out for a very long time now. No…wait. That is an understatement. Civil War is perhaps the most anticipated film of 2016, at least so far. For the most part…it did everything pretty well. The main cast was absolutely fantastic, carrying their characters just like they should…especially since they have played their respective roles for so long. The story was actually interesting as well, as Civil War served as a perfect way to split up The Avengers we know and love and create two teams, Iron Man’s Avengers and Cap’s New Avengers. I would also like to give a shout out to newcomers Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Tom Holland (Spider-man), as they filled their purpose quite nicely and even acted on par with powerhouses Chris Evans and Robert Downy Jr.
For the most part, Captain America: Civil War was rather enjoyable. I don’t have many qualms about the film, except their selection of props. First, during a flashback scene with Bucky Barnes, a Russian guard is sitting at a desk and is using what seems like a 99c pen. Couldn’t it be a little nicer due to their budget? Lastly, I wanted to remark on Bucky’s rifle when they get back to Siberia. Who the hell designed that thing? The magazine was completely in the wrong place and looked rather fake/rubbery. It is a very minor feature, but still bugged the crap out of me.
PROS:
- Main cast performance.
- Supporting cast performance.
- Intriguing separation story.
- Newcomers steal the show.
- Choreographed warfare.
CONS:
- Prop design.
SCORE: 9.0 / 10
