Afrojack Steps Up to the Plate, Dropping Big Room Dance Remix of “Okay” From Nicky Romero & MARF
No today’s artist almost feels like a blast to the past. On our latest visit over to Protocol we are checking out a brand new remix of “Okay” from Nicky Romero, MARF, & Wulf by Afrojack. If for some reason Afrojack isn’t on your radar whatsoever, what the hell have you been listening to for the last decade? After he broke majorly onto the scene with his single “Take Over Control” with Eva Simmons, Afrojack has been a consistent playmaker and powerhouse in the modern EDM world. With numerous originals and remixes under his belt, Afrojack has achieved plenty of success over the last decade and is still a leader in this next wave of electronic music. He is a constant feature in the Top 10 of DJMag’s annual Top`100 DJs list as well as working with the likes of David Guetta, Timmy Trumpet, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Sia, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki, Ty Dolla $ign, Luis Fonsi, and Rae Sremmurd among others.
Now we have to put this out there right from the get-go, we loved Romero’s original version of “Okay” and it has thrived on our office playlist for quite some time now. So when we heard that Afrojack was stepping up to the plate to drop an official remix, we knew that we would have to listen to both tracks side by side. While Romero’s version takes a more progressive house style with soaring melodies and uplifting beats, Afrojack’s inject of a more dancefloor-friendly sound provides a runway for another life outside the summer music track for “Okay”. Afrojack uses more big room house beats and a killer bassline that does drastically shift the tone, but in a great way. We were filled with hope when Romero initially dropped “Okay”, but Afrojack revitalized our addiction to this single.
