While we are all for the larger than life big room music that is full of energy and can fuel thousands, the minimalist approach appeals to us on a separate level. This time we are checking out “I Would”, a brand new indie rock track from artist Jade Hilton. Hailing from the ever-growing Toronto music scene, Jade steadily grew her following through her covers and original tracks on social media. Finding her footing after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Jade decided to move back to Toronto to embrace her growing audience and fully dive into the independent scene. Since taking the dive, She has performed live on centre court at Rogers Cup Toronto, Virgin Mobile Mod Club and Fairmont Royal York Toronto just to name a few.
There are very few artists that can actually make the stripped-down minimalist approach work well. Jade’s latest music video for “I Would” exemplifies this approach, stripping back all features and letting her take center stage. Fragile and emotional, Jade utilizes her void-esque surroundings to provide an essentially raw performance letting us share the experience. Jade take her soft indie rock style and incorporates sounds from R&B, even overlaying the result over a lo-fi atmosphere that makes for an entertaining experience. If anything, Jade shows audiences that the most minimalist approach still can have you rise above the noise.
