Toronto Indie Pop Duo The Lights Downtown Drop Single “I Think I Miss You”, Blend of Old and New?
As a group of millennials, we at Modern Neon have to embrace one stereotype…we love nostalgic sounds. Conveniently this week we have “I Think I Miss You”, a brand new single from a duo known as The Lights Downtown that has one of those sounds that we are looking for. Based out of Toronto, ON The Lights Downtown is made up of two very talented musicians and best friends: Brendon Bonner and Jordan Lennen. While the duo may be relatively new to their local music scene, The Lights Downtown has already begun honing and crafting their style that may earworm its way into your rotation. With strong influences across genres and decades of music, The Lights Downtown can best be described as a blur of both old and new sounds. Start off with indie, a sprinkle of pop, and an injection of deep house. For a more cognitive example, think artists like Rufus du Sol, Flume, Louis the Child, Phoenix, and The XX.

Since The Lights Downtown is still relatively new to the scene, they only have a handful of songs to wet your appetite. However, if you are a fan of nostalgic indie music then The Lights Downtown should be directly up your alley, especially with their latest drop. “I Think I Miss You” is a solid bop that reminds us of our classic garage jam sessions in our younger years when we weren’t such jaded assholes. The track deals with the complications of falling in love, focusing on those uncertain feelings in the early stages of a budding romance. Should you shoot your shot, or let the opportunity pass you by? “I Think I Miss You” might be our first taste of The Lights Downtown, but it leaves us with uplifted expectations for their next track.
