Talented Music Collective daysormay Drops New Album ‘MODERATION’

daysormay, a trio from Vernon, BC, consists of vocalist Aidan Andrews and twin brothers Carson and Nolan Bassett. They began making music in sixth grade, evolving from cover bands to writing original material. Now based in Vancouver at 25 years old, the group continues to push forward, having already released an album and EP. Their latest project, MODERATION, sees them collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Chin Injeti and hitmaker T-Minus, reflecting their growing presence in the industry.

The band has earned millions of streams and praise from outlets like Ones to Watch and Earmilk. They’ve performed at international festivals such as Reeperbahn and The Great Escape, and have toured North America with acts like Tessa Violet and Cold War Kids. With media placements on CBC Radio 3 and Hockey Night in Canada, daysormay’s rise within the indie music scene is gaining momentum.

“The perspective starts off as a self-focused, very narrow field of view, only focusing on myself and my problems/vices. It stays in this view for the first few tracks on the album, and then the perspective gradually shifts to a wider field of view, by the end of the album focusing on my relationships with others and how I’m affecting them, my influence on the world around me, and my shortcomings and how those have affected people in my life.”

“MODERATION” by daysormay explores the tension between indulgence and restraint, both in its lyrical themes and minimalist production. The album reflects lead vocalist Aidan Andrews’ personal struggle with moderation, where pleasurable activities like food and social media become compulsive rather than enjoyable. This theme is mirrored in the band’s approach to production, where they strip the music down to its core elements—melody, lyrics, bass, and drums—acting more as “eliminators” than traditional producers to keep the sound concise and focused.

Tracks like “BUZZING” and “AUTO” embody this philosophy. “AUTO,” inspired by a TikTok riff and named after Auto-Destructive art, represents a turning point in the album’s direction, rejecting the band’s previous sound in favor of something raw and brash. The song’s self-destructive energy aligns with the album’s theme of dismantling and refining, creating a bold new sonic identity for daysormay.
