Superb Songwriter Anna Shoemaker Releases Debut Album “Everything is Fine (I’m Only on Fire)”
There are a few projects that we feel we constantly build up, but only a fe of them like today’s drop fully pay off. On our latest peek into the indie world we are checking out Everything Is Find (I’m Only On Fire), the debut album of Anna Shoemaker. Anna found her initial break into the music world via her own Soundcloud mashup of Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Chance the Rapper’s “Cocoa Butter Kisses”. Now with almost 900k streams online, the track caught the eye of fashion mogul Steve Madden, who recruited Anna to his label. While Anna received a dose of praise when she dropped her debut EP East Side in 2018, it wasn’t until her sophomore drop Everything is Embarrassing released in early 2020 that she popped on our radar. Spending the rest of 2020 casually dropping various singles, we can’t wait to see where 2022 takes Anna’s career.

While we are begging to see a trend of artists releasing music surrounding the events of the last two years, we haven’t have been this infatuated with an artist’s debut in quite some time. Everything Is Fine (I’m Only On Fire) focuses on redemption and self-forgiveness, but also dabbles in a unique fascination with chaos and self-destruction, giving this allure of a “redemption through the flames of destruction” motif. There’s beauty in that approach, essentially choosing to make your debut about burning away all expectations already in place for you. For those of you who are fans of the darker side of indie pop, Everything Is Fine is an experience that you definitely shouldn’t miss. The album’s opening track, “Until I Die”, is a perfect introduction to Anna’s style and we hope it will ensnare you just like she did with us years ago.
