Seun Kuti Unveils Duo Music Videos For “Na Dem” + “Problems” Off Upcoming LP Out 11/6

Seun Kuti has spent nearly three decades carrying forward the legacy of his father, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, while firmly establishing himself as one of the genre’s most important modern voices. Taking over leadership of Egypt 80 following Fela’s passing in 1997, Seun has combined the band’s signature blend of infectious rhythms, powerful horn arrangements, and politically charged lyrics with his own perspective on social justice, inequality, and Pan-Africanism. Beyond music, he has remained an outspoken activist, participating in movements like #OccupyNigeria and #EndSARS, while reviving his father’s Movement of the People political party to continue advocating for change in Nigeria.

Across acclaimed releases including Many Things, From Africa with Fury: Rise, A Long Way Beginning, and the Grammy-nominated Black Times, Seun has expanded Afrobeat’s global reach through collaborations with artists such as Carlos Santana, Black Thought, Janelle Monáe, Damian Marley, Sampa The Great, Talib Kweli, and Vic Mensa. His 2024 album Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), executive produced by Lenny Kravitz, marked a defining moment in his career, pairing bold political commentary with an evolved sound. The 2025 Deluxe Edition further broadened the album’s impact with new remixes and collaborations, reinforcing Seun Kuti’s status as one of contemporary music’s most fearless artists and advocates for cultural pride, resistance, and African unity.

Globally acclaimed Afrobeat artist and activist Seun Kuti, alongside his legendary band Egypt 80, has unveiled the official music videos for “Na Dem” featuring Tom Morello and “Problems” featuring Kabaka Pyramid. Originally released in June and July 2026, the two singles come together as an interconnected cinematic experience exploring oppression, resilience, and the struggle to reclaim power. The first chapter, “Na Dem,” follows a man seemingly defeated by the forces surrounding him, culminating in a striking image of his motionless body beneath a predatory eagle. Defined by cold, subdued tones and tense visual storytelling, the video paints a haunting picture of vulnerability and control. “Problems” picks up exactly where its predecessor leaves off, but takes an unexpected turn as the protagonist rises from defeat and regains his strength. The shift toward warmer, more vibrant imagery reflects a powerful transformation from helplessness to empowerment, challenging the idea that those in power will always remain untouchable.
The videos arrive ahead of Kuti and Egypt 80’s highly anticipated new studio album, Na Dem, set for release on November 6, 2026, and produced by Femi Koleoso of Mercury Prize-winning jazz collective Ezra Collective. Blending Afrobeat’s revolutionary spirit with contemporary influences, the project continues Kuti’s commitment to using music as a platform for political expression and social change, carrying forward his father Fela Kuti’s legacy while carving out a bold identity of his own.
