Psych Rockers Wine Lips Release Third Album + Bloody Video “Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party”
The more we fully dive into the pool of psych-rock, we better prepare ourselves for chaos. On our latest peek into the indie rock world we are checking out Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party, the third album from Wine Lips. Founded and based out of Toronto, Wine Lips talented lineup consists of Cam Hilborn on guitar and vocals with Aurora Evans on drums, Jordan Sosensky on guitar, and Charlie Weare on bass. Catching the attention of Toronto’s indie rock community early on in their career, Wine Lips is ready to capitalize on that momentum and release their 3rd highly anticipated album. The band After spending the majority of their free time in 2020 and 2021 writing and creating their next album, Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party, which will be dropping in full this fall on Montreal’s Stomp Records.
“We wanted to play off a person’s reaction to some bad news but in a very over exaggerated way. The video follows a clown who has just been given news that he is an expecting father on a parody of the Maury Show. The result is the clown having a complete meltdown and going on a killing spree.” – Cam Hilborn
We thought we had enough chaos from the last time Wine Lips stopped by, but we might have discovered that sometimes we have to embrace the chaos. After plenty of time in the studio, Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party is finally out to the internet and is exactly as maddening as we thought it would be. Dropping alongside a brand new music video for the album’s final single “In The Clear”, this album is filled to the brim with tight beats and mesmerizing guitar work. At the same time, the madness-inducing aesthetic and blood-soaked visuals of “In The Clear” don’t hide the technical talent of Wine Lips. We feel this music video is a perfect showcase of who Wine Lips are: professionals in their technical craft while showing their tongue-in-cheek dark comedic antics. While we never thought we needed multiple clown murders in a music video that speaks on self-diagnosis, but Wine Lips thought differently.
