Pompeii: Mt. Vesuvius is a Douche
Hello everybody! Today we have the recently released Pompeii.

Set in 79 A.D., Pompeii tells the epic story of Milo (Kit Harington), a slave turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Cassia (Emily Browning), the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.
Alright, lets see if I can find something good about Pompeii. Normally this part is in the next paragraph, this is weird. Anyway, i have to say that while Pompeii fails as an action film it is not half bad of a disaster film. Mt. Vesuvius is a total douchebag to our characters though. Kit Harrington’s performance wasn’t half bad for what the writers gave him and his abs! (Sorry for that). The special effects and the visuals look great, which satisfied my expectations (they were quite low). This is the kind of films that you would gather your friends to watch on bad movie night.
I saw Pompeii on a double movie day with 3 Days to Kill, and I have to say I was very disappointed. Pompeii fails as an action with a little bit of romance (much like the formula for Gladiator), where it should have definitely succeeded. One of the only names that popped out to me was Carrie Anne Moss, and I was disappointed in her performance. It felt like she was still Trinity from the Matrix franchise, and it ruined her character for me. There was so much wrong with Pompeii that is on my list of films that I never want to see again. That list starts with S. Darko.
PROS:
- Kit Harrington.
- Beautiful visuals.
- Not a horrible disaster flick.
CONS:
- Carrie Anne Moss
- Action/romance fail.
- Disappointing plot.
SCORE: 4.0 / 10

It doesn’t get really good until the final-act, and that’s when everybody starts exploding and dying. I guess that’s not something to recommend for others to see, but so was the case for me and the people I told. Morbid, I know. Good review.
