Orjan Nilsen and Mark Sizma Release Peak Single “Burned” From Collaborative Project nilsix
On our latest visit to Dreamstate we are checking out “Burned”, the latest drop from the nilsix project. Nilsix, a collaboration between Ørjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma, blends over 40 years of combined experience in the dance music scene. Ørjan, known as the “king of melodies,” and Mark, a pioneer of big room sounds, joined forces after facing severe burnout post-COVID. Their studio sessions reignited their passion, leading to over 10 demos and a successful debut with “Anhedonia,” which became Dreamstate Records’ most-streamed track. They continued their momentum with “The Void” and a remix of Ørjan’s classic “XIING.”
Since their debut, Nilsix has captivated audiences at major events like EDC Las Vegas, Dreamstate, and A State of Trance. With releases on prominent labels such as Dreamstate, Revealed, and Armind, they are making a significant impact on the electronic music landscape, showing no signs of slowing down.
Dance music heavyweights Ørjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma continue to maintain high momentum with their fourth single on Dreamstate Records, “Burned,” released under their joint alias, Nilsix. This track, a scorching creation built around a melodic techno framework, is imbued with deep emotion. Written from the perspective of a romantic masochist, “Burned” explores the inability to escape the flames of a toxic relationship.
The track features recoiling synth leads and glossy melodic slides, creating a dark groove filled with masterfully executed tension. The haunting vocals that follow depict the harsh realities of the relationship, adding depth to the composition. After the vocal-driven breakdown, the dark undertones and thunderous percussion return, driving the infectious hook deeper into the heart of this melodic house and techno-powered masterpiece.
