Nu Strut Is Back With Final Single, Groovy Underground “Bussit” + Full Album “Cognac & Cigars” 8/26!
Alright, now we know that we don’t have enough funk in our lives. On our latest visit over to Electric Hawk we are checking out “Bussit”, the latest from Nu Strut. A creative project created by Texan multi-instrumentalist Brent Pinero, Nu Strut was born once Pinero began experimenting with electronic music back in 2016. Pinero began his musical journey fourteen years ago as a member of multiple bands where he discovered his love for Blues, Funk, Hip-Hop- and Neo-Soul. Once electronic music was introduced into the fray, Pinero found inspiration from genre-benders like Gramatik, LSDREAM, and KOAN Sound. In order to re-introduce funk back into the newer generation of listeners, Pinero developed his own version of feel-good bass and Nu Strut was born. Recently Nu Strut made his live debut via Electric Hawks’ Virtual Harmony Festival and released a spirited remix of Au5 & Nasty Purple’s “Funk Ain’t Even.”
The more we explore the Nu Strut catalog, the more we begin to wonder when we omitted funk music from our weekly rotation. The latest and final single from his upcoming album, “Bussit” is overflowing with the retro 70’s tunes that Nu Strut is bringing back into the mainstream. Taking a more unique approach to electronic music, Nu Strut pulls the sounds and beats from the worlds of disco and lounge music of the past and seamlessly melds them with his underground electronic framework. While “Bussit” is a nostalgic treat for the ears, Nu Strut’s mastery of the intricacies of these contrasting sounds makes us feel as if we’ve been transported back in time to experience true groovy lounge music.
