nilsix Returns to Insomniac’s Dreamstate Records to Issue Their Sixth Single, “Blast From The Past.”
nilsix is the dynamic collaboration between trance legend Orjan Nilsen and big room pioneer Mark Sixma, two of dance music’s most influential figures. Together, they bring over 40 years of combined experience, blending their distinctive styles to create a sound that is both emotive and high-energy. Orjan Nilsen, celebrated as the “king of melodies,” is known for crafting timeless trance classics that have resonated with fans and dominated festival stages worldwide.
Mark Sixma complements this with his mastery of big room and progressive sounds, delivering productions that are festival-ready and designed to move crowds. By merging Orjan’s melodic expertise with Mark’s powerful, high-impact sound design, nilsix represents a bold new venture in electronic music—one where innovation, experience, and electrifying energy converge to push the boundaries of the genre.

But the crowd reaction was so strong and people kept asking about it, so we decided to turn it into a full track. To now have it chosen as the opening track of the Dreamstate compilation feels full-circle – it’s the perfect home for the record
given its history.”
nilsix returns to Insomniac’s Dreamstate Records with their sixth single, “Blast From The Past,” continuing the duo’s streak of innovative releases since debuting the project in 2023. The track blends melodic techno with mainstage energy, featuring suspenseful sci-fi-inspired vocal cues, menacing leads, rolling basslines, and psy-infused atmospherics. Its cosmic breakdown opens spacey synth lines and twinkling textures over deep analog pads, delivering a cinematic journey designed to captivate both the dancefloor and festival audiences. The single also serves as a key highlight leading up to Dreamstate’s 10-year milestone celebration.
