nilsix Returns to Dreamstate With The Project’s First Body of Music – Their New Four-track EP, “Fired Up”
We snagged an initial tease, but now this duo’s first major drop is here. On our latest visit to Dreamstate we are checking out ‘Fired Up’, the brand new EP from nilsix. Orjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma’s collaboration as nilsix has been a resounding success since its inception, marked by the captivating debut single “Anhedonia” and the subsequent release of “The Void,” showcasing their dynamic range as artists. Their presence on the esteemed ‘A State of Trance’ live studio show during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) only added to the anticipation surrounding their project, drawing widespread acclaim from industry titans like Markus Schulz, MaRLo, and Super8 & Tab. The duo’s releases on Dreamstate Records have garnered significant attention from influential platforms, solidifying their position as formidable figures in the trance scene, with their upcoming performances at EDC Las Vegas, O2 Arena, and Daresbury Estate further cementing their status as sought-after performers. With “Gone,” Orjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma reaffirm their influential standing in the dance music realm, captivating listeners with their timeless melodies and irresistible energy, poised for continued success in the global trance community.
“We had so much fun making music together and we really wanted to show how versatile we can be with this EP. From melodic techno, acid techno, big room to full-on trance. So, we thought with ‘Fired Up,’ we should try to combine all those styles into one track. We think we succeeded, in fact, we’re all… ‘Fired Up’ about it. We do, however, sincerely apologize for that horrible pun. Well, we hope you’ll enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it.”
The EP begins with “Overture,” a high-energy opener featuring an intense call-and-response between staccato synths and heavy bass, punctuated by melodic interludes. The track builds tension before exploding into a powerful climax, setting an electrifying tone for the entire project. Following is the title track “Fired Up,” a techno anthem with dark vocal hooks, undulating synths, and sharp percussion that creates a dynamic, peak-time atmosphere. The haunting vocalizations and roaring techno resolution showcase its crowd-pleasing power.
The EP continues with previous singles “Gone” and “Burned,” both receiving strong support from major names in the electronic music scene. Together, these tracks build a cohesive narrative that blends intensity, emotion, and driving beats, making it a standout project in the techno and melodic electronic genre.
