Matías Roden is a Peruvian-Canadian singer-songwriter based in Vancouver whose musical journey seamlessly blends his diverse cultural background with influences from classic British synth-pop and modern production techniques. At the heart of the album is Fight No More, a poignant track inspired by Roden’s move from Peru to Canada at 18 and the challenges of building a life in a new country. Drawing from global influences like Peruvian and Brazilian folk, Paul Simon, and Vampire Weekend, the song blends vibrant worldbeat rhythms with electronic polish. “It’s about letting go and stopping fighting the current of your life, and instead making the best of it,” Roden explains. With its driving energy, emotionally charged bridge, and uplifting resolution, Fight No More perfectly captures the duality at the center of The Verdict: chaos and clarity, despair and joy, struggle and self-empowerment.
