Laura Pieri Unveils Haunting “Marry the Night” Cover to Launch Halloween-Themed Series
Laura Pieri, born in São Paulo and now based in New York City, has been connected to music for as long as she can remember, treating it not as a moment of realization but as an essential part of her identity. Over the past few years, she has forged a distinct path in pop, gaining recognition from outlets such as FLAUNT, Mundane Magazine, and Northern Transmissions for her emotionally resonant and sophisticated sound. Her work reflects a balance of vulnerability and confidence, establishing her as an emerging voice with a signature style.
Beyond her music, Pieri is a multidisciplinary artist who approaches each project with a fully realized vision. She not only writes and performs her songs but also immerses herself in the visual elements that accompany them, from music videos to artwork and performance aesthetics. This holistic approach allows her to create a cohesive artistic universe, making her work a true reflection of her creativity and identity.
“The vampire made perfect sense with ‘Marry the Night’: the kiss of the vampire is eternal, it’s a kind of marriage. Lady Gaga has always lived in that fantasy; she’s a vampire woman, powerful and unafraid of the dark. In my version, I wanted to strip the song down, bring a bit of my Brazilian identity — that raw, live texture — to let the darkness sound human, to make it feel alive.”
Rising pop singer and songwriter Laura Pieri is celebrating Halloween with a daring new project: a series of themed cover songs and visuals honoring women often labeled “too much”—too intense, dramatic, or free. The series launched with Pieri’s haunting take on Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night,” which she reimagined with a raw, Brazilian-influenced sound to make the darkness feel alive. “Lady Gaga has always lived in that fantasy; she’s a vampire woman, powerful and unafraid of the dark,” Pieri explains, noting how her version strips the song down while channeling the eternal allure of the vampire archetype.
Over the course of October, Pieri will release three additional covers, each embodying a distinct character and reclaiming female archetypes, accompanied by a Substack where she tells the story of each persona. The series will culminate on October 31 with an original song, marking a bold new chapter in her artistry. This creative push follows her high-energy release Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR), a reimagined, club-ready companion to her 2024 EP Frankie, which transformed her story of survival into one of celebration and further cemented her reputation as a boundary-pushing, multidimensional pop artist.
