Indie Trio Sandy Hawkins Inject Summer Mischief Into Our Winter With “Daddy Didn’t Want Me To Sing”
As the indie world continues to blossom, we might be seeing the next wave of boy bands on the horizon. On our latest visit to the indie world, we are checking out “Daddy Didn’t Want Me To Sing”, the latest drop from Sandy Hawkins. Hailing from Echo Park, this three-piece modern boy band formed while everyone was locked in their homes during quarantine. Rediscovering their love and a mutual fascination with yacht rock, they knew that had to take advantage of the situation and join forces. Each musician brings a different style to the table, with each allowing their strengths to shine through in the production. Trickling onto Los Angeles’s indie scene in 2021, Sandy Hawkins has released a number of singles, getting the market primed and ready for Sandy Hawkins to truly take the indie world by storm.

Being the latest addition to the Sandy Hawkins catalog, this single serves as the most recent introduction to the band’s tongue-in-cheek method of making rock music. “Daddy Didn’t Want Me To Sing” tells the story of a young girl who ran off to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams against her father’s wishes and has to discover her own path as she was never told how the real world operates. The single actually was inspired by loose elements of the band’s own origin story, adding a layer of authenticity to their production. With so many different assets at their disposal, Sandy Hawkins will eaisly become a staple for summer mischief in the yacht rock world.
