Georgia Black Explores Power, Surrender, and Transformation on New Album Rope
Georgia Black is an alternative R&B force from North London whose voice feels both timeless and unmistakably her own. Growing up inspired by legends like Shirley Bassey and Etta James, she burst onto the scene fronting Agent Provocateur’s show-band Dirty Stop Out, quickly proving she could hold her own next to icons like Mick Jones of The Clash and Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream. From KOKO in Camden to Berlin Fashion Week, she became known for performances that felt big, bold, and cinematic — something Earmilk captured perfectly when they said her music feels like it belongs in a Bond movie. Along the way, she supported soul hero Omar, collaborated with artists like Jalen Ngonda, and starred in Punchdrunk’s immersive hit The Drowned Man, where Aaron Paul famously called her “amazing” after watching her perform.
That cinematic pull came full circle when her music was featured heavily in the Emile Hirsch film State of Consciousness. Five of her songs were chosen, including “Ruler” and “Kicks” from her new album Rope, as well as the standalone focus track “The Golden Doors.” It’s a major moment — the kind of placement that makes her musical storytelling feel even bigger, reaching beyond the stage and into the world of film.
Her upcoming album Rope, produced by Nutty P, is her most personal work yet. It dives into power, surrender, and the messy beauty of breaking cycles — the push and pull of toxic love, the relief of reclaiming your confidence, and the thrill of pure chemistry and release. More than anything, Rope shows Georgia turning vulnerability into strength, tying together every chapter of her story so far. It’s soulful, raw, and full of the emotional honesty that makes her music stick to you long after the last note.
