Ella Rosa Shares New Single, “FUN”
Now this is a genre blend we didn’t expect, but we’re completely here for it. Originally born and raised in Henley-On-Thames, Ella Rosa found her love of music once reaching the shore of the United States. Moving to Manhatten at the age of 11, Ella Rosa discovered her love of music through studying opera and music from the likes of Erykah Badu, The Police, Amy Winehouse, and Nina Simone. It wouldn’t be until she was 16 that she would upload her first single, “Myself”, to Spotify and hit the ground running. Her debut snagged the attention of many industry tastemakers such as Complex, EARMILK, and Wonderland Magazine. Since her debut Ella has released a number of singles and her YELLOW BLAZER EP, each garnering continued support from fans and industry movers alike.
“I came up with the concept of ‘FUN’ when things were not fun at all. I had just moved to a daunting new city and felt pressure to fit in with the ‘cool kids.’ I fell into a weird little crown and discovered a mischievous side to myself I actually grew to love. I wrote the song in third person because, at the time, I struggled with disassociation and it felt like I was watching my life unfold from the sidelines. I wanted that feeling of eerie detachment to come through in the music, which is why the track almost sounds spooky.”
Ella Rosa’s new single “FUN” blends genres like UK garage, drum and bass, R&B, and bedroom-pop, creating an infectious and experimental track. Her sweet yet commanding vocals flow over pulse-pounding production, capturing a playful, high-energy vibe. With its mix of underground beats and hypnotic melodies, “FUN” cements Ella Rosa as an innovative force in left-of-center pop.
