Canadian Indie Artist Lisa SQ Releases Debut Album ‘Reel Me In’ feat. Brooding Lead Single “Teeth”
Lisa SQ is a multidisciplinary artist and creative cross-pollinator, constantly exploring fun, weird, and original projects. Born in Montreal in a bilingual household, she naturally moves between French and English, shaping a rich and authentic musical voice. Influenced by the iconic voices of Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf, as well as the fearless eccentricity of artists like David Bowie and El Perro del Mar, Lisa’s music reflects a deep love of diverse genres and a playful, adventurous spirit.
Since moving to Hamilton, Ontario over a decade ago, Lisa has immersed herself in a collaborative folk and indie scene, drawing on the generosity and creativity of her friends to bring her first full-length album to life. Her songwriting celebrates the absurd elegance of human nature, finding beauty in the mundane and capturing life’s clumsy magic. Her music blends indie and art pop with nostalgic touches, pairing dreamy synths and raucous guitars with offbeat melodies and lyrics, creating a sound both avant-garde and warmly familiar.
Her upcoming album was largely recorded in Toronto at the Dwayne Space with producer Tyler Kyte and engineer Ian Docherty, with additional sessions at Chale Abbey Studios on the Isle of Wight with producer David Granshaw. Across both sessions, Lisa collaborated with talented musicians who infused the songs with warmth, humor, and their own unique sensibilities, creating a lively and deeply human collection of music. With new songs already in the works, Lisa SQ will be performing shows throughout the fall in anticipation of her album’s late November release, continuing to offer listeners a playful, heartfelt, and immersive musical experience.
