They Might Be Giants Announce New Album The World Is to Dig Out April 14 | Share Lead Single + Visualizer “Wu-Tang” | THE BIGGER SHOW TOUR Spring Dates On Sale Now

Alternative rock icons They Might Be Giants are back with a fresh burst of creativity, unveiling their new Eyeball EP, now available on all streaming platforms and in the TMBG download store. The four-track project kicks off with the titular “Eyeball,” a track that blends the band’s signature quirky energy with infectious hooks. “The Glamour of Rock” follows, delivering a playful, high-voltage take on the joys and absurdities of stardom. The EP also includes the instrumental standout “Peggy Guggenheim,” a cinematic showcase for the band’s three-piece horn section that blasts off in full throttle—so vivid and dynamic it could easily score a pulse-pounding movie chase scene. The project closes with a reimagined version of “Eyeball” from the acclaimed remix duo The Elegant Too, offering a fresh, inventive perspective on the EP’s opening track.

“Many years ago, we discussed the idea of celebrating an artist or a style of music, but in the form of a completely unrelated genre of music. The original idea was a Tin Pan Alley-style song extolling the greatness of heavy metal. ‘Wu-Tang’ was written more or less along those lines, partly inspired by their TV biopic, but void of any musical reference to the great hip-hop collective. Are we fans? Sure! Would we ever attempt to emulate their sound? Not publicly.” – John Linnel

Brooklyn legends They Might Be Giants announce their new LP, The World Is to Dig, arriving April 14 in all formats via TMBGshop.com and on streaming services, with an exclusive 180-gram color vinyl edition hitting indie retailers on April 17. The 18-song album is the band’s first full-length since 2021’s Grammy-nominated BOOK and finds John Flansburgh and John Linnell leaning into the balance they’ve long mastered: sharp, witty songwriting paired with bold experimentation. The result is a vibrant, hook-filled collection that feels both comfortably familiar and creatively restless, reaffirming their knack for making smart pop that still surprises.

The lead single, “Wu-Tang,” out now, captures that spirit perfectly. Framed as a celebration of Wu-Tang Clan’s transformative influence on a devoted fan, the track turns fandom into something joyful and almost mythic, buoyed by TMBG’s signature melodicism and waves of ’60s-style pop hooks. It’s a playful, sincere entry point that underscores the album’s larger theme: music as a force that shapes how we see the world.
