LoFi Hip-Hop Duo Pink Elefants Drop New Retrospective Single ” on Today’s Problems

When it comes to genre rules, we say blend them as much as you can before you break them entireely. On our latest deep dive into the indie world we are checking out “Sound of Violence”, the newest single from Pink Elefants. A musical project found by life long friends Finch and Illeven, Pink Elefants made their official debut back in 2019. Based out of Maryland, our duo has been incredibly busy pumping out a series of consitent releases that have been quickly growing the Pink Elefants identity. The band finds the process of creating music the most rewarding part of the process, with their process evolving and maturing as the Pink Elefants grow intandem. Beginning last yeast, the duo even host a nightly show on their Facebook page where they perform original mixes and covers. Fun fact, the duo’s name is actually borrowed from the “pink elefants” sequence in Disney’s Dumbo film back in 1941!

“the observer in the song narrates as if they are in some lavish party in the hills. At first the party seems perfect until you look closely and peel back the layers. As the veneer begins to decay we can all start to see the darkness underneath.” – Pink Elefants

writing together in this group brings back a lot of fun for us,” the duo write. “The limitations are removed and we can just write without worrying too much about all the other hoopla that comes along with being in a musical entity with business-like endeavors. This project is a dream team of passionate and hungry musical virtuosos.” – Pink Elefants

“Sound of Violence” serves as our first introduction to the Pink Elefants, bringing their still evolving sound into the spotlight. Blending together both elements of lo-fi electro and hip-hop, the track showcases their style without letting any core element overtake the others. With vocal pop hooks serving as markers, the track is an analysis of high class society and their lavish life style. While on first listen you may picture yourself at one of their aburdly expenishve parties and everyhting seems great…until you peel back the layers. Now is the perfect time to release “Sound of Violence” to the masses, as the meaning of the song echoes within the problems that we are saily on a daily basis in our society today.
