Experimental Pop Artist shn shn Releases the Ethereal Single, “Glimmer”
We love it when we receive a single that reminds us of the beauty of musical composition. On our latest peek into the experimental world we are checking out “Glimmer”, the latest from shn shn. Still fairly new to the professional music scene shn shn is a queer Black electronic music producer and creator out on a mission. Through shn shn’s work, they aim to break down genre barriers and open up new doors for experimental music to thrive. Busy working out her sounds core concepts in early 2020, shn shn released her self-produced/released debut EP out to the masses in October 2020. Ever-changing in nature, the EP showed listeners the foundation of what shn shn aims to build, with “Maladaptive Daydreams” being the next step.
“Glimmer” by shn shn is a musical exploration of joy, hope, and possibility, opting for subtlety over bombast to convey its message. The song’s delicate composition, featuring frosty bells and whispered vocals, invites listeners into a world of introspection and contemplation. However, it’s not content to remain in one sonic space; “Glimmer” takes unexpected turns, introducing pulsating beats and throbbing basslines that inject a surge of energy into the composition. This dynamic interplay mirrors the unpredictable nature of life and echoes the cyclical themes present in shn shn’s upcoming album. Much like Björk’s Vespertine, “Glimmer” challenges listeners to embrace the beauty found in the subtle whispers of the universe and to seek out glimmers of hope even in the darkest of moments.
