Blood Lemon Announces New EP Petite Deaths Out January 17 | Unleashes Roaring Single + Video “Perfect Too”
Blood and citrus, how you tempt our interest. In our latest peek into the indie rock scene we are checking out “Perfect Too”, the latest drop from Blood Lemon. Formed back in 2018, this talented grrrl band consists of three very talented musicians: Lisa Simpson (Finn Riggins, Treefort Music Fest), singer/bassist Melanie Radford (Built to Spill, Marshall Poole) and percussionist Lindsey Lloyd (Tambalka). Three classically changed musicians in each of their own right, the three joined forces to form Blood Lemon after connecting on a musical wavelength and through the Mostly Muff cover band. With a love of 90s grrl music and not afraid to get political, the members of Blood Lemon quickly discovered their sound and drive to make music with their fellow women,

Boise’s post-riot grrrl trio Blood Lemon returns with Petite Deaths, a five-track EP set for release on January 17, 2025, via Moon Ruins, with a limited-edition vinyl also available. Recorded at the legendary Rancho De La Luna studio in Joshua Tree with producer Dave Catching (Queens of the Stone Age, Desert Sessions), the EP channels the vastness of the desert while delving into themes of personal and creative transformation. Lead single “Perfect Too,” a seven-minute epic, critiques society’s obsession with perfectionism through searing guitars and pulsing rhythms. Its accompanying video, crafted by director Grant Osman and Boise’s Corevette Collective, is a striking blend of live-action and animation, portraying humanity’s struggle against technocratic control. While less overtly political than their debut, Petite Deaths promises to retain Blood Lemon’s provocative edge, exploring catharsis and change. The title nods to the French phrase la petite mort—a euphemism for emotional release—mirroring the EP’s blend of vulnerability and intensity.
