American Producer Baddies Only Drops 3rd Club Single “I Need You”, Sampling Mescal Kid’s Original Track
An element that creative people tend to forget about these days is your personal brand. Personal branding can easily change the narrative about you as an individual and it is important to get that out of the way early on. This time we were surprised by “I Need You”, a brand new self-published single from American producer Baddies Only. A prime example of crafting your personal brand, Baddies Only embodies his own concept known as “Club Bad”. Living the lavish and indulging in the hedonistic lifestyle, one look at Baddies Only’s Instagram and you can craft a pretty clear picture of the Baddies Only identity. Baddies Only has already garnered a following among the Los Angeles party scene, playing at clubs and festivals around the world such as Mykonos, St, Tropez, and Dubai.
“About 8-9 years ago, I heard this female vocal sample – “I Need You,” in a Steve Angello‘s mix from an artist named Mescal Kid (which ended up being Steve‘s alter-ego). It was so memorable because I was at that age when I just started going to concerts and meeting the baddest girls, dancing and partying with them, so my passion and excitement was on overload. I told myself I had to wait for the perfect song to bring the sample back to life and capture that euphoric, nostalgic feeling. We all can trace back to our first or second show/concert where the music and scene really enthralled us. I bring that energy and passion that ignited my love for house music” – Baddies Only
It is almost always interesting to watch as a producer dabbles in a new genre, especially if it is fondly remembered from their earlier years. Coming around and dropping his third single, Baddies Only took his time to create a modern club beat with a twist of nostalgic flair. Utilizing the prominence of modern bouncy basslines, Baddies Only took his chance to sample one of the earliest tracks in his electronic music fascination. Nostalgic electronic aficionados should recognize the track’s vocal hook, as Baddies Only sampled it from Steve Angello’s side project Mezcal Kid’s track of the same name. Perfectly primed for the current non-existent club scene, we have no doubt “I Need You” will seamlessly blend into the revived club world.
