It is rare that a super collaboration like this happens in music, and we want a full album ASAP. On our weekly visit to Protocol we have “Dynamite”, a major collaboration between label boss Nicky Romero, fellow Dutch producer Mike Williams, and the amazingly talented songwriter Amba Shepherd. Romero is one of the modern producers to change and mold today’s electronic music scene how he sees fit. Not only has he founded one of the most prolific modern electronic music movements, but he is also constantly on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list year after year and has attributed heavily to the global spread of electronic music. Romero continues to surprise us, even dropping a mini-doc series earlier this year and multiple successful releases now that he’s back on the wagon.
“I got to know Mike by Instagram, we were in touch for a while when he asked if we could do a studio session anytime soon, so we planned everything and came out to the studio, worked on a few ideas and got this one going really fast. Great working with someone who is very hands-on with his production, the reason why we could work really fast!” – Nicky Romero
With the amount of talent smacked into this production, it is almost impossible for it not to be amazing. Romero and Williams take control of the production and craft a surreal blend of rising melodies and the bounciest of basslines, while Amba is the real star of the show. Having gained plenty of fame from her original pieces and writing for powerhouses like Tiesto, Afrojack, and Porter Robinson, Amba Shepherd’s voice is beautifully haunting. Her vocal performance in “Dynamite” is no different, enchantingly weaving in and out of the progressive beats. We have no doubt that this track will be setting dancefloors ablaze well into 2020.
“It was really cool to work with a big artist like Nicky. We spend some time in his studio together, talking about music, this industry and of course working on the collab. It’s a bit unreal for me! I’m super happy with the result of the track. I hope everyone likes it!” – Mike Williams.
