Gone Girl has to be one of my favorite films of 2014, at least story wise. The film was just so damn intriguing that I was actually interested in the film the entire time. I wanted to stand up and applaud at the end, even though I didn’t. Ben Affleck played himself very well as well as Rosamund Pike playing himself. They were so in sync that they could actually be married. I have to say though, they stand out performance in my opinion was Tyler Perry. In a slightly different role then I am used to him playing, he essentially is the wife killing defender/lawyer. He fit the role so well that he was scary good. I don’t want to spoil too much of the story for y’all, but prepare to be confused and love it.

While I loved Gone Girl, I am not afraid to admit that it has problems. There is a point in the film that turns the characters against each other in a media battle. While this is interesting, it definitely lasts way too long and cut have easily be cut down. My biggest pet peeve though is the ending. The film kind of ends on a mute note, you will understand once you see it.

PROS:

  •  Main cast performances.
  • Story.
  • Character/cast chemistry.

CONS:

  •  Lengthy media battle.
  • Ending
